NitroSprings
NitroSprings are engineered to deliver exceptional force in a compact, heavy-duty gas spring design. Powered by compressed nitrogen, they provide smooth, controlled performance in tough environments. With forces up to 300,000 N and stroke lengths ranging from 100 mm to 2000 mm, NitroSprings combine strength with precision for consistent, repeatable results.
Fully compliant with PED 68/2014/EU, nitro gas spring technology is trusted across industries for applications including lifting, counterbalancing, clamping, damping, suspension, anti-vibration, overload protection, and ejection systems.

What are NitroSprings?
NitroSprings are nitrogen gas springs built for heavy industrial use. They combine high initial force with stable motion control. Force can be configured to match the application.
The compact form helps where space is tight, and these are often used as heavy duty gas struts or gas spring heavy duty upgrades to mechanical stacks.
Product range and stock availability

NitroSprings compression springs
Choose high-force compression NitroSprings for direct, linear motion. Sizes and strokes cover common industrial needs. Stock options support fast delivery.

NitroSprings threaded compression springs
Select threaded compression NitroSprings for easy mounting and service. The design keeps setup simple. It also maintains high force density.

NitroSprings NS40-20 stainless steel
Pick stainless steel when corrosion resistance matters. This variant suits washdown, chemicals, and outdoor settings. Performance matches the standard NitroSpring.

NitroSprings NS40-20
Use this versatile size for demanding industrial builds. It balances footprint, stroke, and force. Integration is straightforward.

NitroSprings NS40-16
This option provides lower force progression than the 40-20 size, making it ideal for when a smooth, consistent force is required.

How do nitrogen gas springs work?
A nitrogen gas spring stores energy by compressing nitrogen gas inside a sealed cylinder. As the rod is driven inward, the gas volume decreases and internal pressure increases. Once the load is released, this stored energy pushes the rod outward.
Damping oil and precision orifices regulate the extension speed, ensuring smooth, controlled motion with the output force being determined by the internal gas pressure and the effective piston area.

Nitrogen gas spring materials
Lesjöfors supplies NitroSprings engineered for dynamic performance under demanding operating conditions. Each unit is built from high-quality materials with precision finishes to ensure strength, reliability, and long service life.
Cylinders are manufactured from pressure-rated carbon steel, delivering excellent strength and cost efficiency for industrial and automotive applications. Piston rods are finely polished and treated with chrome plating or black nitriding, providing exceptional wear resistance and long-term corrosion protection.
Plus, protective coatings include a corrosion-inhibiting paint layer that shields components against harsh environmental exposure.
The result: NitroSprings that maintain consistent performance in harsh environments where durability cannot be compromised.
Trusted in defense and energy systems

Engineered retraction for defense applications
NitroSprings play a vital role in the defense sector, integrated into military vehicles as ramp safety systems to ensure safe, secure and efficient loading and unloading of personnel and equipment.

High force for harsh environments
NitroSprings deliver dependable force where pressure, weather, and water demand more. Engineers integrate compact cylinders confidently in steel mills, offshore and exposed systems.
