Rocket launch carrying Lesjöfors components for the SpaDeX space docking mission

Lesjöfors is proud to highlight its contribution to the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) landmark Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX), which successfully demonstrated India’s autonomous in-orbit docking capability.

The milestone was supported through our sister company International Industrial Springs Pvt Ltd (IISPL), whose components contributed to the historic mission.

Supporting a historic mission

IISPL has supplied high-performance spring and pressing components for SpaDeX and other programmes led by ISRO, contributing to critical systems involved in spacecraft docking, undocking and onboard operations.

Sumit Gala, Managing Director at International Industrial Springs Pvt Ltd, says: “We have had a long-standing partnership with ISRO, and it is a tremendous honour to contribute to a mission as historic as SpaDeX. Seeing its success and knowing our components played a role in India becoming one of the few nations to demonstrate autonomous space docking is both humbling and inspiring.

“Receiving a letter of appreciation from the Government of India Department of Space, thanking us for developing a new conical helical compression spring design, alongside many other spring designs, and recognising that they all performed flawlessly, has been a particular highlight for the team.

“We are beyond proud to be actively fulfilling multiple ongoing orders for ISRO across its aerospace and defense programmes.”

Engineering for space applications

Components supplied include torsion springs, compression springs, disc springs, Belleville washers, press parts and spring washers – engineered to perform in demanding environments within autonomous spacecraft rendezvous and docking systems, power transfer, inter-satellite communication and navigation.

A shared commitment to aerospace innovation

The SpaDeX programme demonstrates the specialist component knowledge and manufacturing capability available within the wider Lesjöfors network to support high-precision, mission-critical applications.

Henk de Vos, Head of Defense Development at Lesjöfors, concludes: “This achievement highlights our capabilities and reinforces our commitment to supporting advanced aerospace and defense applications with reliable, high-performance component solutions.”
